What is your background, education, training, work experience if other than photography?
I am Christina McMaster owner of Portraits by Christina and have been a professional photographer for over 10 years. I have a home based studio located in Gilbert. I have always loved the art of photography. Through the camera, I love capturing the personalities of my subjects and the love they have for each other. My passion started when I received my first camera at the age of 16 for my birthday (and still have it!) Photographed my first wedding at the age of 19. Received my formal education in photography in college, while continuing to educate myself through local affiliations and classes that were offered. I took a job as an intern in a photography studio in Los Gatos, California. I worked there for awhile to learn how a studio operates, and also educating myself even more with the hands on experience.

What is your specialty?
Maternity, children and family photography.

What are your goals for your business in the future?
To build my business and my clientele to eventually move from an in home studio to a store front studio. Photography is a journey for me, one that I don't think will ever have an end. There is always so much to learn. But it's a journey I enjoy.

What has been your most successful marketing effort to date?
My most successful marketing effort would have to be sending out quarterly newsletters to my clients. I always get a great response and they forward my newsletters on to their friends. Which is how my client base continues to grow.

Why did you join the AzPPA? What has been the best thing you have gotten out of being a member? Or what do you look forward to the most out of being a member?
I moved to Arizona in 2001, shortly after that I joined AZPPA. My artistic talent evolves through participation in local affiliations such as AZPPA, educational classes, seminars and conferences. I also love the friendships that I have developed by being an AZPPA member.
